"Join us Tuesday, October 16 for an evening of extraordinary photographs of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area in northwestern Montana. Photographer and avid hiker, Chic Burge of the Spokane Mountaineers, will be presenting a slide show of photos taken in the Cabinets during his many years of exploring this unique wilderness area. Home to grizzly bears, lynx, and wolverines, the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area is a spectacular 94,000 acres. It is characterized by lush vegetation, lofty peaks, and glacial valleys dotted with alpine lakes. The Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area is one of the original ten wilderness areas designated by Congress in 1964. In spite of this protection, this wilderness faces multiple environmental challenges.
