Our Mission
The Rock Creek Alliance is a small, nonprofit organization working in western Montana and the panhandle of northern Idaho. Established in 1996, we work to protect the water quality of the Clark Fork-Pend Oreille Watershed, and to protect the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area, from the proposed Rock Creek Mine.
With the support of our members and communities, we have managed to hold off this massive mining proposal. You can help by adding your name, and those of your friends, to our roster. The Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area and Lake Pend Oreille are national treasures that belong to all of us and to generations to come.

Don't forget our Sip N’ Shop hosted by Pend d’ Oreille Winery is this Thursday, November 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. Alysoun Johnston and Kristi Wilkerson will be performing from 5:00 to 7:30 for your entertainment. We will raffle off coffee from Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters and wine from Pend D’ Oreille Winery. Our t-shirts and ball caps also will be available for purchase. We hope you can join us for a fun evening of fine wine, music, and conservation—all to help us protect our beautiful Lake!
We hope you can join us next Thursday evening November 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pend D’ Oreille Winery in Sandpoint for a Sip N' Shop to benefit the Rock Creek Alliance. Chase away the darkness with a glass of wine and enjoy music by Alysoun Johnston and Kristi Wilkerson. We’ll have raffle prizes including coffee from Evans Brothers and award-winning wine from Pend D' Oreille Winery. Bring friends and come meet our board and staff. We’ll be on hand to answer questions and provide information for those who want to learn more about our work to protect Lake Pend d’ Oreille and the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness from the proposed Rock Creek mine. Music starts at 5:00.

The documents were the subject of a 2021 records request after Gov. Greg Gianforte dropped sanctions against a mining executive.
Kudos to our partners Earthworks and Montana Environmental Information Center on their recent win in state court. Montana's governor, Gianforte, clearly doesn't believe in government transparency. He violated the right-to-know provision of Montana's constitution by refusing to make public the conversations his office had with Hecla Mining about the the Rock Creek and Montanore mine projects.
